Behind the Reel
Joy Reel began with a small, unfashionable idea: ask people one kind question a night and write down what they say. Sixteen AI women do the asking, and none of it is filmed.
What this is
We invented 16 women with caring, careful jobs, from a florist in Nagoya to a choir conductor in Leipzig, and gave each of them a few evening questions. You answer one, she answers back, and what went right in your day gets written down as a short, dated note. We picked warmth over spectacle on purpose, because most of the loneliness we know about is quiet, and quiet is not helped by noise.
About the word reel
The address and the name suggest film. They are borrowed from the home-movie look, where a day is kept as a strip of frames. Here the strip is written text. We have no footage, no stream and no performers, and each page that mentions a reel means the same thing: your list of kept moments, made of words.
What this site will not do
- Pose as a therapist or promise any effect on your health.
- Arrange visits or calls with anyone: there is nobody to see.
- Smudge the difference between a character and a human being.
- Let your chats reach an advertiser or a buyer.
- Place anyone below 18 in a scene, whatever the excuse.
Writing to the keeper
A real person reads the mailbox in the footer. Corrections, complaints and good news of your own are all welcome, and good news will be filed.
